President Donald Trump is trying to reframe the narrative on why he withheld a $391 million aide package for Ukraine days before pressuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate possible 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
In the past day and a half, 29 Democratic lawmakers have come out to support impeachment proceedings in light of the new revelations.
CNN compared two videos of the President defending his decision to stall the aide package. The videos are only a day apart, but his excuses are quite different.
In the first video, taken on Monday, Trump says his hesitation to provide the promised aide was due to concerns of corruption in the Ukraine.
"It's very important to talk about corruption. If you don't talk about corruption, why would you give money to a country that you think is corrupt?"
Then, in a video taken Tuesday morning, Trump claimed he withheld the aide because Europe wasn't paying its fair share.
"I'll continue to withhold until such time as Europe and other nations contribute to Ukraine, because they're not doing it. Just the United States. We're putting up the bulk of the money, and I'm asking, 'Why is that?'"
So...is the reason corruption? Or is the reason Europe?
Or maybe, just maybe, the President who's told over 12,000 lies since his inauguration is lying?
After months of hesitation, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is planning to announce a formal impeachment inquiry later this afternoon.
