President Donald Trump continues to slip in the polls after his response to the pandemic outbreak and to protests against systemic racism in the United States.

Trump railed against a poll released by the New York Times on Thursday that showed him significantly trailing Democratic nominee Joe Biden in crucial swing states.

Now, a poll from Fox News is adding insult to injury with its findings that Donald Trump is even trailing Biden—albeit with a slimmer margin—in more reliably red states.

Fox News has Biden leading by two points in Georgia, which Trump won in 2016 by 5 points and which hasn't voted Democratic since 1992.

Biden is ahead by one point in solid red Texas, which Trump won by nine points in 2016 and where Jimmy Carter was the last Democrat to win in 1976.

Among red leaning -- but swingier -- states, the poll puts Biden ahead of Trump by two points in North Carolina—which voted Republican in nine out of the last 10 presidential elections, and by a wider margin of nine points in Florida, which Trump won by a little over one point in 2016.

Biden's supporters welcomed further evidence that Biden is pulling away from Trump, particularly from Fox News.

Though historically little more than a pipe dream, a growing number of Democrats see turning Texas blue as a real possibility in 2020, especially since this isn't the first time that pollsters have found Trump and Biden neck and neck in the state.

But with the lessons learned from 2016 still searing, no one is naive enough to get complacent.

Despite heartening polls, Democrats will need sustained momentum and robust turnout if they have any hope of ousting Trump.
