Eric Trump without a hint of irony, complained that his father's indictment meant Democrats are trying to 'imprison political opponents.'

Eric Trump was mocked after making a clueless claim while railing against Democrats on Fox News.

Trump is the second son of former Republican President Donald Trump. The 45th President was indicted on felony charges Tuesday for repeatedly trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election which culminated in the violent Capitol riot and insurrection on January 6, 2021.

The indictment in Washington D.C. is the former President's latest in a series of charges against him–including in Florida for the mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House and in New York for falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments to an adult film star ahead of the 2016 Presidential election.

On Wednesday's Fox News program, Eric Trump praised his embattled father and accused Democrats for alleged corruption and exacerbating the hostile political division in the country. As usual with Trump camp claims, the younger Trump offered nothing to support his claims.

Trump lamented:

"We’re no better than some of these Third World countries around the world."
“We are literally trying to imprison political opponents. We’re better than this.”

Here is a clip from the segment.

Remember the whole "Lock her up" MAGA minions chant?

The internet does.

It didn't take long for social media users to mock Trump for his glaring obliviousness.

His father frequently demanded his political opponents, like his 2016 Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton, be held accountable for unsubstantiated or disproven misdeeds by going to prison.

"Lock him/her up" was a common directive he bellowed aimed at political rivals and echoed by his MAGA followers at numerous rallies.

Social media users continued schooling him about his father's tendency to exhort the imprisonment of adversaries.

Eric Trump also used the same catchphrase against Hunter Biden, the son of Democratic President Joe Biden.

Hunter Biden has been a frequent target of conservatives in the media linking him to baseless claims about foreign influence and corruption based on data allegedly found on an old laptop.
