MTG Wants To Spend U.S. Israel Funding On 'Space Lasers' At The Border...Yes, Really

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was mocked for her amendment to House Israel package that would fund 'space laser technology' at the southern border.

Back on March 5, 2024—the election cycle's Super Tuesday, Georgia MAGA Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene told a member of the British press to "f*ck off" after they asked her about MAGA minions' love of conspiracy theories.

The MTG meltdown came after the reporter mentioned Jewish space lasers—an antisemitic conspiracy theory Greene had embraced and promoted online.

Now a little more than a month later, Greene is trying to make the lasers a reality.

Greene was proud of her latest bit of useless legislative activity.

And it was quite an accomplishment. With one amendment, MTG managed to negate her prior apologies for spreading the antisemitic conspiracy theory while also pushing White nationalist rhetoric about the United States southern border.

Greene often amplifies the racist Great Replacement conspiracy theory embraced by White nationalists like Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham and former Republican President Donald Trump and his MAGA minions.

It claims a concerted effort is being made to replace White people in the United States with Jews and BIPOC. But Great Replacement rhetoric conveniently ignores the fact brown people are Indigenous to the Americas, having been on the two continents for an estimated 33,000-65,000 years before contact with White Europeans.

Apparently, Great Replacing the Replacements wouldn't fit on a bumper sticker.

MTG shared her amendment on X, captioned:

"Israel has some of the best unmanned defense systems in the world."
"I’ve previously voted to fund space lasers for Israel’s defense."
"America needs to take our national security seriously and deserves the same type of defense for our border that Israel has and proudly uses."

In a separate X post, Greene wrote:

"All the weak men in Washington can not stop me."
"I will not relent in my fight against our own government to put America FIRST."

But Greene didn't get many accolades for her latest stunt—even from conservative outlets like Fox News.

Greene has a background in staging outrage for attention.

Prior to becoming a member of Congress, MTG would film herself harassing underage school shooting survivors.

Now known in Congress for harassing other members and introducing nuisance legislation—designed solely to promote her MAGA, White nationalist, and Christian nationalist propaganda—this is not the first time MTG has added absurd wording to an existing bill.

MTG recently proposed an amendment to a bill to aid Ukraine in their fight against Vladimir Putin's Russian invasion.

Her amendment to that bill added:

"Any Member of Congress who votes in favor of this Act shall be required to conscript in the Ukrainian military."

It’s unclear what Greene's reference to prior space laser funding is about.

The bill MTG wants to attach her amendment to includes funds for Israel’s Iron Beam terrestrial—as in not in space—laser defense system.

Iron Beam is designed to intercept incoming rockets and mortars from the ground. However, its effectiveness is unproven as it's not yet operational.
