Former President Donald Trump has frequently railed against wind power turbines, which he erroneously calls windmills.
The former President has previously said that wind turbines cause cancer and railed against a 2020 stimulus bill from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi due to its allocation for funding them, claiming wind turbines "kill the birds and ruin the real estate."
Somehow, Trump found himself ranting about wind turbines yet again, this time while delivering an answer about Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent invasion of Ukraine.
OMG I’m dying!!! On a UFC podcast today, Trump is asked how he sees the war in Ukraine playing out and he launches into a riff about windmills! pic.twitter.com/S2nV6hLIbP

In a recent interview for the Full Send podcast, Trump was asked to predict what would unfold over the course of the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
"Well, and I said this a long time ago, if this happens, we are playing right into their hands. Green energy. The windmills don’t work. They’re too expensive. They kill all the birds. They ruin your landscapes, and yet the environmentalists love the windmills. And I’ve been preaching this for years. The windmills ― and I had them way down ― but the windmills are the most expensive energy you can have. And they don’t work.”
It's unclear why Trump pivoted to this apparent non-sequitur, though there are conspiracy theories among the far-right that the Ukraine-Russia conflict was orchestrated by environmentalists in an effort to force societies to adopt clean energy like electric vehicles, given the effect of Russian sanctions on the global oil and natural gas markets.
Still, people were baffled.
Putin invaded Ukraine because of…windmills? Seriously, your drunk uncle at Thanksgiving is more informed about geopolitics and basic current affairs than this former *president* of the United States. https://t.co/J35J1Tc3fZ

Only Trump could turn a podcast question about Putin and Ukraine into an attack on windmills. pic.twitter.com/x8ZBPapOUy

Others called out those who continue to support Trump, urging them to watch the video.
Ladies & gentlemen, I give you the undisputed leader of the Republican Party. Pompeo, Cruz, Haley, Cotton, Rubio, DeSantis, & all the others, take 57 seconds & listen, and then bow down before him.👇 https://t.co/JmSIr1vbyl

Every single Republican elected official or candidate should be forced to watch this clip and then say whether or not they’d vote for Trump for president in 2024.pic.twitter.com/FBIUGEfH8T

Yet all of these clever people who know better say they need to know who the democrat is before they can commit to not voting for this dangerous, criminal fool. https://t.co/cPVNPZXJ2h

Not since Don Quixote have windmills been such an obsession.
