Trump Mocked for Bonkers Rant About Windmills in Response to Question About Ukraine Invasion
@ronfilipkowski/Twitter

Former President Donald Trump has frequently railed against wind power turbines, which he erroneously calls windmills.

The former President has previously said that wind turbines cause cancer and railed against a 2020 stimulus bill from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi due to its allocation for funding them, claiming wind turbines "kill the birds and ruin the real estate."

Somehow, Trump found himself ranting about wind turbines yet again, this time while delivering an answer about Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent invasion of Ukraine.

Watch below.

In a recent interview for the Full Send podcast, Trump was asked to predict what would unfold over the course of the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

He said:

"Well, and I said this a long time ago, if this happens, we are playing right into their hands. Green energy. The windmills don’t work. They’re too expensive. They kill all the birds. They ruin your landscapes, and yet the environmentalists love the windmills. And I’ve been preaching this for years. The windmills ― and I had them way down ― but the windmills are the most expensive energy you can have. And they don’t work.”

It's unclear why Trump pivoted to this apparent non-sequitur, though there are conspiracy theories among the far-right that the Ukraine-Russia conflict was orchestrated by environmentalists in an effort to force societies to adopt clean energy like electric vehicles, given the effect of Russian sanctions on the global oil and natural gas markets.

Still, people were baffled.

Others called out those who continue to support Trump, urging them to watch the video.

Not since Don Quixote have windmills been such an obsession.
