The world of chemistry got a little bit bigger last month when the periodic table of elements officially grew by four new elements. The International Union of Applied Chemistry certified the elements, known as 113, 115, 117 and 118, on December 30, 2015, after a lengthy review by a joint team formed from the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUAPAP).
