Days after President Donald Trump made the controversial decision to pardon him for lying to investigators, disgraced former National Security Advisor, General Michael Flynn, is echoing the President's lies that widespread voter fraud tipped the 2020 election to President-elect Joe Biden.

As more and more swing states certify their results, the President's efforts to secure another four years in office by subverting the will of the people through frivolous lawsuits and pressure on state officials seem doomed to fail.

Flynn is urging the President to take an even more radical measure to uproot American democracy: declare martial law—a suspension of civil government replaced with direct military control of a country's citizens.

Tagging other defenders of the President, Flynn tweeted a press release from the far-right group We The People.

It reads in part:

"WTPC Calls for President to Invoke Limited Martial Law to Hold New Election and Protect our Vote, in Full Page Washington Times Ad, if Legislators, Courts and Congress Do Not Follow the Constitution"

Electors of each state are set to meet on December 14, where they will cast their ballots based on the voting totals of their state. As of now, Biden is set to secure 306 electoral votes—well over the 270 vote majority needed to take the White House.

We The People's ad, however, absurdly states that any outcome of the electoral vote that doesn't result in a Trump presidency is a violation of the 12th Amendment:

"When the legislators, courts and/or Congress fail to do their duty under the 12th Amendment, you must be ready Mr. President to immediately declare a limited form of Martial Law, and temporarily suspend the Constitution and civilian control of these federal elections, for the sole purpose of having the military oversee a national re-vote."

In its lies about the subversion of the people's vote, We The People is proposing this subversion in actuality through the form of a military dismissal of the vote.

And a United States General, however disgraced, supports it.

At a time when local election officials are receiving death threats, Trump's supporters are echoing Flynn's calls for martial law and retribution for delusional claims of election fraud.

Trump's efforts to secure another four years have been completely unsuccessful, but he has succeeded in eroding millions of people's faith in the democracy that defined America. Now, that fringe is calling for violence and military rule to block the will of the majority.
