Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming has become a pariah within the Republican party for her opposition to former President Donald Trump, despite voting in line with his agenda more than 90 percent of the time.
After the former President's lies incited a deadly failed insurrection, Cheney announced in a scathing statement that she would vote to impeach him. In the months since, Cheney is one of two Republicans who joined Democrats on the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 riots.
As a result, she's been censured by her state's Republican party and removed from her position as GOP conference chair.
The pushback doesn't seem to be fazing the Congresswoman, judging by a recent tweet directed at Trump himself.
I like Republican presidents who win re-election. https://t.co/ifGDEuA9Jx— Liz Cheney (@Liz Cheney) 1632661720.0
Cheney shared a picture of Republican former President George W. Bush, with the caption "I like Presidents who win re-election," an allusion to Trump's comments about the late Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona, who famously spent years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
Trump said of McCain on the 2016 campaign trail:
"He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured."
Trump was the first incumbent President to lose reelection since W. Bush's father, George H.W. Bush, lost in 1993.
The tweet generated a wave of reactions online.

But even critics of Trump criticized Cheney for praising Bush, given the role his administration—and Cheney's own father—played in thrusting the nation into decades of war.

Cheney's plummeting popularity in the party signals an uphill battle for reelection in 2022.
