Former President Donald Trump continues to lie that the 2020 election was somehow "stolen" from him by Democrats conspiring with election companies and foreign countries to facilitate widespread election fraud.

Trump's grievances about the election have been thoroughly debunked by courts, state officials, election audits, and his own Attorney General at the time, William Barr, who emphasized during Trump's lame duck period that there was no evidence of fraud widespread enough to have any effect on the election outcome.

In an excerpt of his upcoming memoir published in the Washington Post, Barr reiterates that Trump's fantasies about the 2020 election have no basis in reality.

He writes:

"The election was not 'stolen.' Trump lost it."

Barr's rebuke of Trump's election fantasies has soured his reputation among conservatives, with some labeling him as a RINO, or "Republican in name only" for his perceived disloyalty.

He goes on to claim that "Country and principle took second place" in Trump's White House, further claiming that, "People are worthwhile to Trump only as means to his ends—as utensils."

He goes on to encourage readers to back younger conservative candidates who agree with Trump on a host of issues but don't harbor his "erratic personal behavior."

Social media users didn't think much of Barr's all-too-late rebuke of Trump's so-called leadership.

Conservatives who believe Trump's election lies were even more unsparing.

The former President has yet to respond to Barr's claims, though he has decried Barr as a "RINO" for past statements.
