New Poll Finds Clear Majority of Americans Believes Trump's Assassination of Soleimani Has Made Us Less Safe
President Donald Trump and his allies continue to defend his decision to launch an air strike against top Iranian military official, Qasem Soleimani, citing the hundreds of Americans who died at Soleimani's hands.
Trump launched the strike in retaliation to the death of an American military translator and protestors storming the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
While it isn't disputed that Soleimani was an enemy to the United States, the operation has been heavily criticized for dramatically escalating tensions with Iran and prompting retaliatory strikes on Iraqi military bases where U.S. troops were stationed.
Trump and his administration insist that the United States is safer, but a poll from USA Today and Ipsos indicates that Americans believe otherwise.

According to the results, 55 percent of Americans think the attack on Soleimani made Americans "somewhat" or "much less" safe.
Another 52% believe the air strike, which Trump executed without notifying congressional leadership, was reckless.
If Twitter is any additional indication, the opinion is a common one.

War with Iran appears to be off the table for the moment, but Trump's actions have undoubtedly made the situation with Iran is the most fraught it's been in years.
