After his election conspiracy theories prompted a mob of his extremist supporters to storm the United States Capitol in a deadly failed insurrection, former President Donald Trump was banned from a number of social media outlets, including his infamous Twitter account.
Trump railed against Twitter for "silencing conservatives" by revoking his preferred method of spreading deranged election fantasies to his dozens of millions of followers.
Trump promised that a new pro-Trump social media platform would soon be coming. A Trump spokesman, Jason Miller, said it would be "the hottest ticket in social media," and that it would "completely redefine the game."
Sure enough, in early May, the former President released the Trump Desk to an underwhelmed public. The purported social media outlet wasn't a social media outlet at all. While it let Trump post lengthy, often incoherent statements, but users couldn't create profiles, couldn't respond, and couldn't post thoughts of their own. They could only share Trump's statements and, of course, make donations.
Critics skewered it as a glorified blog.
Now, less than a month after debuting it, the Trump Desk has been scrubbed from his Save America website.
What was once the URL to the erratic blog is now a sign up sheet, urging visitors to:
"Sign Up below to receive EXCLUSIVE updates from Donald J. Trump!"
When asked about the blog's removal, Jason Miller said:
"It was just auxiliary to the broader efforts we have and are working on. Hoping to have more information on the broader efforts soon, but I do not have a precise awareness of timing."
But the Washington Post's Josh Dawsey was told by an unnamed advisor for Trump that the former President "didn't like that this platform was being mocked and had so few readers."
If Trump was enraged at his platform being mocked...it's a good thing he's not on Twitter to see reactions to the news of its removal.

It's unclear where Trump will go to get his message out next, though a few Fox and Friends calls can't be outside the scope of imagination.
