Forget Driverless Cars, Nissan Wants to Make a Car That Anticipates Drivers' Moves Before They Make Them
As cars with more autonomous capability make their way to the road, Nissan is seeking to capture the attention of those people who aren’t ready to let go of their steering wheels. Its Brain-to-Vehicle model—which uses an electroencephalography (EEG) cap to connect driver to car—claims to anticipate and accelerate the driver’s reactions, creating an overall improved driving experience. The project also seeks to use information from the cap in self-driving mode, adjusting the environment and ride to better suit the driver’s comfort level.
How Does B2V Work?
While Nissan’s cap gathers raw data from the driver’s brain, the car’s artificial intelligence interprets it. Thus, the name Brain-to-Vehicle or B2V technology.
Several brands that advertise on Breitbart News have opted to sever ties with the far-right news website after a social media effort urged marketers to abandon the site for espousing racist, sexist, and anti-Semitic content. Breitbart's executive chairman, Steve Bannon, was recently appointed chief strategist and senior counselor to President-elect Donald Trump.
Food manufacturer Kellogg announced it would pull all advertising from Breitbart after consumers alerted the company of its ads on the website. “We regularly work with our media buying partners to ensure our ads do not appear on sites that aren’t aligned with our values as a company,” said Kris Charles, a Kellogg spokeswoman. “This involves reviewing websites where ads could potentially be placed using filtering technology to assess site content. As you can imagine, there is a very large volume of websites, so occasionally something is inadvertently missed. We recently reviewed the list of sites where our ads can be placed and decided to discontinue advertising on Breitbart.com. We are working to remove our ads from that site.”
