In a moment at her fellow South Carolina Republican Representative Tim Scott's prayer breakfast, Nancy Mace shared a relatable dilemma that many experience—sacrificing a morning quickie to make it to work on time.

However, her admission was met with disgust from conservative influencers.

Mace recounted her morning encounter with her fiancé Patrick:

“When I woke up this morning at seven, Patrick, my fiancé, tried to pull me by my waist over this morning in bed and I was like, ‘No baby we don’t got time for that this morning, I’ve gotta get to the prayer breakfast.'"
“He can wait, I’ll see him later tonight."

You can hear what she said in the video below.

While the comment was lighthearted and TMI (too much information) for some, conservative commentators seized the opportunity to attack Mace for admitting she, an adult woman, has a sex life outside of marriage.

Several influencers expressed their disapproval on social media, using derogatory language and criticizing her personal choices.

Despite the backlash, Mace appeared undeterred and maintained her sense of humor.

In a tweet, she quipped:

"I go to church because I’m a sinner not a saint!"
"Glad those in attendance, including [Tim Scott] and my pastor, took this joke in stride. Pastor Greg and I will have extra to talk about on Sunday."

Many appreciated Mace's response.

Mace's candid comment may have sparked controversy, but it also highlights the need for more open conversations around human experiences and relationships.

As an elected official, she joins a growing number of public figures who have faced scrutiny for sharing personal aspects of their lives. And as a woman, she is undoubtedly no stranger to judgment regarding her sex life.

To her credit, she at least has a sense of humor about it.
