Donald Trump's extramarital affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels is no secret, and it's certainly understandable that Melania would be upset about it, but the full extent of her upset and her retaliation didn't come to light until recently.

Stephanie Grisham, former White House Press Secretary and chief-of-staff to Melania, spilled all of the juicy details in her new book though. Grisham has slowly been sharing details from the book, I'll Take Your Questions Now, as its release date approaches.

According to a Washington Post excerpt from Grisham's book, shortly after his affair came to light, Melania began finding small ways to get back at her husband. Or as Grisham put it:

"to embarrass him as he had embarrassed her."

One such instance involved her walking into his first State of the Union address on the arm of an attractive military aide recruited by Grisham for the purpose.

Grisham reports that Melania claimed that she needed the extra support because the floors in the Capitol were too slippery, but Grisham was dubious.

"I laughed to myself because I'd seen the woman navigate dirt roads in her heels."

Another small dig at her husband came in the form of having Grisham edit out the word "wife" from her official press statement about the affair. The final draft read:

"She is focused on her family & role as FLOTUS — not the unrealistic scenarios being peddled daily by the fake news."

Once Grisham shared the details, Twitter comments quickly followed. Many people were understanding of Melania's actions.

It seems nobody was surprised to learn that Melania distanced herself from her husband, most witnessed it in the way she acted during public appearances.

Others just took the opportunity to rag on Trump.

The affair apparently didn't elicit much of an outward emotional response from the former First Lady, though.

She apparently told Grisham:

"This is Donald's problem. He got himself into this mess. He can fix it by himself."
