New Year's Resolution Ideas 2018: Unique & Achievable Goals

New Year's Resolution Ideas 2018: Unique & Achievable Goals

With the New Year right around the corner, it’s absolutely time to consider what things you want to get done before 2019 starts to pear over the horizon. For the 2018 New Year, why not deviate from the norm and challenge yourself with goals you may otherwise not even consider.

Go ahead and push yourself to lose that 20 lbs you gained over the course of 2017, but also pick something from this selection of more unique and completely achievable goals. Whatever task you decide to make your yearly goal, dedicate yourself to it so that you can enter 2019 with a completely new list of tasks to pick from.

Create Something

Chances are you’ve heard at least one or two people in your life talking about how they’re going to write a book. When it comes to being creative, writing winds up being a popular choice – but it’s not the only choice.

Don’t reduce yourself to one option. There are different ways to be creative and things to create. Paint a small mural, build a family tree, try your hand at video production – just create something. It doesn’t even have to be good, so long as it’s a first step towards a finished product.

Finish That Thing You Started

Speaking of finishing things, we all have that one project we’ve started that never got the attention it deserved throughout 2017. Why not make it your goal during 2018 to finally complete it. Finishing a project, especially one that you’ve been sitting on for a while, is a rewarding experience. It may even open the door to more projects and accomplishments.

Overcome a Fear

Fear can be debilitating and keep you from fully experiencing life. By Dec. 31, 2018, resolve yourself to starting the process of overcoming your greatest fear. Start off small and try to best it on your own. If that doesn’t work, don’t be ashamed to seek help.

If you have multiple fears, tackle as many as you’re comfortable with, but focus on one at a time.

Support a Local Foundation

Local charities and foundations are the lifeblood of the community. They support the less fortunate, provide the needy with essentials, and try to take that step towards a finite resolution. Don’t spread yourself thin in 2018, however. Pick one that you’re comfortable supporting and try to do something monthly for it.

Even if you’re strapped for cash, foundations often need volunteers for events and fundraisers.

Join a “Meetup” Group for Your Favorite Hobby

Find what you’re most passionate about and find people to share it with. If you’re a writer, join writing Meetups. Love to play video games? There’s a Meetup for that. You never know what these connections and relationships could build up to.

Meetup.com provides access to meetings in your area for a plethora of causes and interests.

Start a YouTube Channel

If you’re in-the-know enough to understand how to start a YouTube channel, you might as well give it a go. You don’t have to go into it with the intention of making millions. Sometimes it’s nice to have a public outlet to talk about your grievances or share interest in a certain community.

As with Meetup.com, you may make connections that could lead to something bigger. Or you may garner a loyal following and become an authoritative voice on a topic.
