Few of those in former President Donald Trump's orbit have seen a more precipitous fall from grace than his former lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.

Once heralded as "America's Mayor" for his response to the September 11 attacks, Giuliani's work for Trump was defined by constant lies, bumbling press conferences, and bizarre hearings intended to defend the former President's lies about the validity of the 2020 election.

Now, Giuliani is facing billion dollar defamation lawsuits from Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems—the elections software companies he falsely accused of helping facilitate nonexistent widespread election fraud.

Some of Giuliani's allies have begun a crowdfunding effort to cover his legal expenses, writing:

"Rudy's fate will determine if America still is a Republic governed by We The People, or if the swamp has finally amassed total control of our great country.

That's why Rudy urgently needs YOUR help as he battles for his freedom and justice."

The fund has imposed a steep goal—five million dollars by the end of August—but it doesn't look like that's going to be met. So far, the fund has failed to meet even $10 thousand in the few days since it's been opened. And it's only garnered around 100 donors.

The embarrassing development comes amid reports that Trump has been refusing to pay Giuliani, out of frustration with his failure to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

People have begun taunting Giuliani for his legal woes.

And many are emphasizing that Trump left his favorite lawyer high and dry.

What's more, Giuliani was recently suspended from practicing law in the state of New York due to the avalanche of lies he spewed while defending Trump's election fantasies.
