An Atlanta pastor is going viral after perfectly making the case in a recent sermon for defeating scandal-plagued MAGA Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker at the ballot box.
In his Sunday address to his congregation at New Birth Missionary Church, Pastor Jamal Bryant gave a blistering take-down of Walker, who was hand-picked by former Republican President Donald Trump to run against incumbent Democrat Reverend Raphael Warnock.
Walker is embroiled in multiple overlapping scandals involving his paying for abortions for former romantic partners despite the extremely conservative views he professes on abortion rights.
He has also been accused of horrific abuse by his ex-wife Cindy DeAngelis Grossman and their son, far-right gay Republican influencer Christian Walker.
Even so, most Christians and Republicans have steadfastly stood by Walker and amplified his absurd claims of innocence.
Bryant is certainly not among the professed Christians willing to defend Walker. In his sermon, he characterized the former NFL player and Trump devotee as dishonest and ineffectual and his nomination as a cynical and insulting ploy by the GOP.
You can watch the fire below:
Bryant began his comments by plainly laying out the obvious reasons for the GOP's elevation of a manifestly unfit candidate like Walker.
After pointing out Walker's move from Texas to Georgia to run for the open seat, Bryant characterized the GOP's scheme as a panicked reaction to Democratic President Joe Biden's surprise 2020 victory in Georgia and the state's election Warnock, a Black man, and Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff, who is Jewish, to represent the state.
"It's because change was taken too fast in the post-antebellum South. The state had been flipped blue, and there are some principalities that were not prepared for a Black man and a Jewish man to go to the Senate at the exact same time."
"So they figured they would delude us by picking somebody who they thought would in fact represent us better with a football than with a degree in Philosophy."
"They thought we were so slow, that we were so stupid, that we would elect the lowest caricature of a stereotypical broken Black man as opposed to somebody who was educated and erudite and focused."
But Bryant was hardly done there. After warning his congregation, “Y’all ain’t ready for me today," Bryant went on to list the myriad ways Walker cannot be trusted with a seat in the Senate.
“In 2022, we don’t need a Walker, we need a runner."
“We need somebody who’s going to run and tell the truth about Jan. 6."
"We need someone who going to run and push for the cancellation of student loan debts."
"We need someone who’s going to run and make the former president respond to a subpoena."
"We don’t need a walker. We need somebody who will be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding, knowing your labor is not in vain.”
Bryant then closed his comments by calling out the racist presumptions inherent in the GOP's selection of Walker as its candidate.
"Georgia I need you to know that the slave Negros y'all are used to don't live here no more!"
"We can think for ourselves, function for ourselves and vote for ourselves. Why? Cuz we don't need a Walker!"
Bryant's congregation leapt from their seats on several occasions to cheer him on during his speech, and on Twitter, people shared their enthusiasm.
Warnock is caught in a dead-heat with Walker with just 7 days out from election day.
