Widow Of Fallen Soldier Breaks Her Silence, Donald Trump Hits Back

Donald Trump took to Twitter to rebut Myeshia Johnson's account.

Last week, Donald Trump attacked U.S.Representative Frederica Wilson on Twitter after she accused him of telling the widow of a fallen soldier, via a brief phone call, that her husband “knew what he signed up for.”

Florida congresswoman Wilson was in the car with the Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Green Beret Sgt. La David Johnson, when Trump called and claims she heard the entire conversation. The Washington Post reports Myeshia Johnson cried after the brief five minute phone call: “He didn’t even remember his name,” Johnson said to Wilson.

After Trump repeatedly attacked Wilson's character over the weekend, calling the congresswoman a liar, "wacky, and a "disaster," Myeshia Johnson broke silence this morning to confirm the testimony of Representative Wilson: "Whatever Ms. Wilson said was not fabricated. What she said was 100% correct." She also reiterated that Trump did not remember her husband's name during the phone call.

Trump couldn't resist refuting Johnson, claiming the compete opposite shortly after her appearance on ABC News: "I had a very respectful conversation with the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, and spoke his name from beginning, without hesitation!"

Sgt. Johnson's mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, was also in the car during the call from the White House. Her account of events confirms what Wilson and Myeshia Johnson have said. "President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband," she told the Washington Post last week.

And yet, Trump's numerous Twitter posts insist that both the widow and mother of a fallen Army Special Forces sergeant, as well as a Florida U.S. Representative respected by Republicans, are all lying.

The twitter feud between the president and congresswoman Wilson began last week with Wilson's criticism of Trump's words and demeanor following the phone call: "Sgt. La David Johnson is a hero. @realDonaldTrump does not possess the character, empathy or grace to be president of the United States."

Trump responded the following morning to defend his own honor: "Democrat Congresswoman totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action (and I have proof). Sad!"

Wilson was not deterred, and stood by her accusation of Trump: "I stand my account of the call with @realDonaldTrump and was not the only one who heard and was dismayed by his insensitive remarks."

Trump could not let this go, and doubled-down on his side of the story: "The Fake News is going crazy with wacky Congresswoman Wilson(D), who was SECRETLY on a very personal call, and gave a total lie on content!"

He continued his attack on Wilson over the weekend: "I hope the Fake News Media keeps talking about Wacky Congresswoman Wilson in that she, as a representative, is killing the Democrat Party!" Then on Sunday he called her a gift to the Republican party and a public relations disaster for Democrats.

After these repeated attacks on Twitter, Rep. Frederica Wilson fired back on Sunday morning, saying that the ambush in Niger that left four US soldiers dead "is (Trump's) Benghazi."
