President Donald Trump “unquestionably” committed an impeachable offense when he ordered his former economic advisor Gary Cohn to block a merger between AT&T and Time Warner, George Conway, the attorney who also happens to be husband of White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway, tweeted on Monday.
Conway’s tweet was in response to an explosive New Yorker report claiming that in 2017, Trump ordered Cohn and then-White House Chief of Staff John Kelly to pressure the Justice Department into stopping the merger.
“I’ve been telling Cohn to get this lawsuit filed and nothing’s happened!” Trump is reported to have said. “I’ve mentioned it fifty times. And nothing’s happened. I want to make sure it’s filed. I want that deal blocked!”
Trump’s opposition to the deal, Jane Mayer was informed by a source familiar with the incident, “was a matter of petty retaliation against CNN,” which Trump routinely chides as “fake news.”
Conway shared Mayer’s report on Twitter and offered an unambiguous legal analysis of Trump’s attempted abuse of power:
“If proven, such an attempt to use presidential authority to seek retribution for the exercise of First Amendment rights would unquestionably be grounds for impeachment.”

Is anyone really surprised that Trump would try to overstep his authority?
No surprise he did this

Add it to the list.

Add it to the list of supposed high crimes and misdemeanors.
For Christ’s sake, half the shit Trump does is grounds for impeachment:
Obstruction of justice
Oh, and he just might have conspired against his own country with a foreign government making him a Russian stooge.

Can we be real….? There have been at least a half dozen impeachable offenses already.
— Motherfucker Jones (@MFJones1618) March 4, 2019
Add it to the list of the many other offenses. It’s all becoming normalized if he suffers no repercussions.

Conway’s take on this carries some serious weight.
George saying this means something. He is a respected legal expert who is a conservative #GOP
I’ve always said Trumps own party will have to be the catalyst in stopping this madness. Nixon wouldn’t have resigned if not told by Goldwater etc it was time to go

But will Trump ever face consequences for his misdeeds?
