READ: George Conway Retweets People Live Tweeting William Barr’s Confirmation Hearing to Be the Next Attorney General

It was a lot.

“We live in a time when the country is deeply divided,” Barr said at one point. “In the current environment, the American people have to know that there are places in the government where the rule of law, not politics, holds sway.”

Conway made headlines this week after he said nothing Trump says “can be taken at face value.”

Conway was responding to a tweet from former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who called it a “disgrace” that Trump acts in “a way to necessitate” reporters asking him if he’s working on behalf of the Russians.

This came after the New York Times confirmed the FBI “became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests.”

Conway’s dislike for the president is particularly striking considering his marriage to perhaps the White House’s most high profile communications associate (Kellyanne Conway entered the term “alternative facts into common parlance.) He once quoted Trump himself, saying that the nation would benefit from having a leader “capable of comprehending what it means to ‘take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.”

Last April, Second Nexus reported Conway purged his Twitter feed of posts that were critical of the president. When asked why he said there was “no good reason.” We doubt Conway’s walking back any of his criticisms anytime soon.
