In a series of tweets, President Donald Trump called for the Department of Justice to investigate Hillary Clinton over "all of the dishonesty." The president issued his call for investigations into his political opponents as special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives escalates.

The special counsel earlier this week announced authorities have charged former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his longtime business partner Rick Gates with 12 counts of “conspiracy against the United States, conspiracy to launder money, unregistered agent of a foreign principal, false and misleading FARA statements, false statements, and seven counts of failure to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts.”

In his tweets, Trump repeated one of his favorite political slurs, referring to Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) as "Pocahontas" in reference to her self-proclaimed Native American background.

The president also sought to draw attention to his claim that the Democratic primary process was rigged to favor Clinton. He referenced an excerpt of former interim Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile’s forthcoming book, which alleges poor leadership by its former chairwoman, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) that allowed Clinton's campaign to exert its influence over the committee.

Trump also expressed his frustrations with the Justice Department in an interview yesterday afternoon with talk radio host Larry O’Connor.

“The saddest thing is, because I am the President of the United States, I am not supposed to be involved with the Justice Department. I’m not supposed to be involved with the FBI. I’m not supposed to be doing the kind of things I would love to be doing and I am very frustrated by it,” Trump told O’Connor. “It’s very discouraging to me. I’ll be honest, I’m very unhappy with it, that the Justice Department isn’t going…maybe they are but you know as president, and I think you understand this, as a president you’re not supposed to be involved in that process.”

He also questioned why the Department of Justice wasn't investigating Clinton's behavior during last year's presidential election. He referred to the law firm Perkins Coie saying it had paid Fusion GPS to compile a dossier of information on Trump's connections to Russian operatives on behalf of Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

I look at what’s happening with the Justice Department. Why aren’t they going after Hillary Clinton with her emails and with the dossier, and the kind of money?” Trump said. “I don’t know, is it possible that they paid $12.4 million for the dossier? And how was it ― which is total phony, fake ― and how was it used?”

The president's behavior prompted a former spokesman for President Barack Obama's National Security Council to accuse him of behaving like an "autocrat."
