Roseanne Barr is facing blowback from Chelsea Clinton after the comedian tweeted a conspiracy theory claiming Clinton is married to the nephew of billionaire investor and philanthropist George Soros. On Monday, Barr tweeted “Chelsea Soros Clinton,” seemingly out of nowhere.
An hour later, Barr added: “she’s married to George Soros’ nephew,” which she has since deleted:
Clinton responded on Tuesday morning, tweeting to Barr that she isn’t married to a Soros, though she is appreciative of Soros’ work through his Open Society Foundation, which works “to build vibrant and tolerant democracies whose governments are accountable and open to the participation of all people.”

At 9:30 Tuesday morning, Barr sent another tweet to Clinton, this time with a fake apology in which she accuses Soros of being a Nazi.
Sorry to have tweeted incorrect info about you! Please forgive me! By the way, George Soros is a nazi who turned in his fellow Jews 2 be murdered in German concentration camps & stole their wealth-were you aware of that? But, we all make mistakes, right Chelsea?
Barr’s claim that Soros was a Nazi is also patently false.
The conspiracy theory that Barr pushed on Twitter is wholly untrue and easily debunkable. The rumor was started by actor Scott Baio, who campaigned for Donald Trump in 2016.
