Far-right Congressman Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina made some salacious claims about the habits of his fellow representatives in a recent interview with the YouTube channel Warrior Poet Society.

Cawthorn, who has previously claimed that liberals want to make the United States "genderless, sexless, and just absolutely godless," claimed he's been invited to cocaine-fueled orgies from his fellow members of Congress.

After host John Lovell asked about the similarities between Congress and the Netflix political drama House of Cards, Cawthorn said:

"The sexual perversion that goes on in Washington, I mean, being kind of a young guy in Washington, average age is probably 60 or 70. I look at a lot of these people, a lot of them that I’ve looked up to through my life ― I’ve always paid attention to politics. Then all of a sudden, you get invited to, ‘Oh, hey, we’re going to have a sexual get-together at one of our homes, you should come.’”

The claim isn't exactly unbelievable, as Washington has never been without its shortage of sex scandals. Currently, far-right Congressman Matt Gaetz—whose conservative ideology largely aligns with Cawthorn's—is the subject of a criminal sex trafficking investigation. Coverage of the investigation has fueled claims of drug-fueled sex parties Gaetz attended with other members of Congress.

Some social media users, including members of Congress like Democratic Representative Ted Lieu, took Cawthorn's comments as an indictment of the Republican conference.

So far, Cawthorn remains mum on the sex lives of members of Congress. That might be for the better.
