Former President Donald Trump's spokeswoman, Liz Harrington, has the unenviable task of sharing his off-the-cuff ramblings and petty insults under the perceived legitimacy in official statements after Trump's social media accounts were banned for inciting violence.
A constant topic is Trump's lie that the 2020 election was "stolen" by Democrats engaging in widespread voter fraud—the same lie that prompted a mob of pro-Trump extremists to storm the United States Capitol this past January in a deadly failed insurrection meant to overturn Biden's victory.
In comments to far-right disinformation outlet One America News (OAN), Harrington insisted that officials need to "fix" the results of the 2020 election if future elections, like the 2022 midterms and 2024 presidential election, are to occur.
Harrington told OAN host and Trump sycophant Natalie Harp:
"When all these Republicans and RINOS suddenly start pretending like they cared about election integrity, it's always the next election. Well, what the base is focused on, what the average American is focused on, regardless of your party if you were paying attention during the election, what you were focused on, is we can never allow this to happen again. And we have to fix what happened in 2020 or otherwise there's not going to be a next election."
Harrington elaborated on her comments in a tweet, claiming future elections wouldn't be legitimate.
The claim wasn't well-received.
Some claimed Harrington should be booted from Twitter for repeating lies on behalf of Trump, who's been permanently banned from the site.
Trump's incessant lies about the election's validity have irrevocably discredited the legitimacy of American elections for a faction of Republicans in the United States.
