Why is Hollywood is determined to remake all of it’s previous Box Office hits?

They remade Superman, Spiderman and Batman all raking in millions at the Box Office. But now they are remaking the classics including recent remake of the 1970s classic Murder on the Orient Express.

The original Agatha Christie classic directed by Sidney Lumet. It starred Lauren Bacall, Sean Connery, Ingrid Bergman, Anthony Perkins, Albert Finney, Vanessa Redgrave and Michael York to name a few and was a smash hit in 1974.

Fast forward to 2017 this remake has been directed by Kenneth Branagh. Stars include Johnny Depp, Leslie Odom Jr., Daisy Ridley, Michelle Pfeiffer, Penelope Cruz, Derek Jacobi, Judi Dench and Williem Dafoe.

Agatha Christie is one of the worlds most successful crime novelists. With over 73 novel published to date. The Guinness Word Records lists Christie as the best-selling novelist of all time, with over two billion copies sold world wide.

Murder on the Orient Express is about the murder of one of the passengers aboard the famed luxurious train. All of the wealthy and famous passengers are a suspect and it is up to Hercule Poirot to solve the case. Inspector Poirot for any Christie fan is featured in a number of her novels, along with Miss Maple, and helps solve the murder mystery.

Is the remake better than the original?

A lot of time and passion has been put into making both films, especially with such a stellar cast. In the original working with famed director Sidney Lumet was a draw card as was the case for the remake.

But the big difference between both is the use of special effects. The original tried to keep to the script whereas the remake has relied heavily on CGI effects, which does outshine the film at times.

But time will tell which film is a better screenplay of the Agatha Christie classic.
