Former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg abruptly announced the end of his presidential bid on Sunday night after Saturday night's South Carolina primaries.

Mayor Pete's candidacy marked the first time in history an openly LGBTQ person had been a serious contender for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.

Sadly, that's not why President Donald Trump's eldest yet most childish son—Donald Trump Jr.—congratulated the mayor on Twitter.

Instead, Don Jr. congratulated the Mayor on what he believed to be an inevitable CNN contributor job.

While a losing Presidential candidate as a CNN contributor wouldn't be an unheard of step by any stretch of the imagination, the Mayor's options appear wide open. Some consider him a possible candidate for Vice President and others think they'll see him in a Presidential election possibly as soon as 2024.

It's also worth mentioning that not only Democratic presidential candidates take political contributor jobs on major networks. Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, who failed to clench the GOP nomination in 2016, currently works as a contributor for CNN. Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee frequently sings Donald Trump's praises on Fox News.

Don Jr.'s tweet sent eyes rolling skyward.

For what it's worth, Don. Jr's stepmother, First Lady Melania Trump, spearheads a movement to encourage healthy behavior online.

Pete Buttigieg's book, Shortest Way Home, is available here.
