A Homophobic Pete Buttigieg Supporter Found Out Buttigieg Was Gay During the Caucus and Really Wanted to Switch Her Vote

As if the Iowa Caucuses weren't chaotic enough, one caucus goer was stunned to learn that former South Bend, Indiana Mayor and 2020 presidential contender, Pete Buttigieg, is gay.

Unlike the vast majority of Democrats, the woman wanted to withdraw her paper vote for Mayor Pete because she didn't believe a gay person could belong in the White House.

Watch the bizarre video below.

Buttigieg came out as gay in 2015. He's spoken of his sexuality often and frequently appears at campaign events with his husband, Chasten. While Buttigieg's sexuality isn't the focus of his campaign, it's far from a secret.

Nevertheless, it was news to the caucus goer, who said:

"Are you saying he has a same sex partner?...Are you kidding?...Well I don't want anybody like that in the White House. So can I have my card back?"

Despite a stunned Buttigieg campaign worker's best efforts to reason with the woman, she still said her support for Mayor Pete went "down the toilet." She continued to cite the Bible as her reason for withdrawing support.

People were astonished at the exchange.

Some praised the patience of the organizer for remaining calm.

The exchange was a reminder that while the Democratic platform is dedicated to expanding the rights of LGBTQ voters, homophobia within the party still exists.
