We established people’s least favorite songs from otherwise good musicals a few weeks ago, and the debate was fierce.
Now, writer Dana Schwartz recently turned the question on its head, asking the inverse: what are some standout songs from musicals that didn’t exactly stand out?
What's the best single musical theater song from an otherwise mediocre musical? I don't have a smart "I'll start" answer, I'm genuinely curious

Once again, the internet did not let us down.
“One Day” from Groundhog Day

This may be heresy, but the Gershwin musical OH, KAY! doesn’t do much for me, aside from a little tune called “Someone To Watch Over Me.”

“With You” from Ghost. The rest of the musical is okay-ish but With You is one of the best ballads of 21st century musicals

Once again, Broadway fans were divided.
People got especially miffed at which musicals others considered “mediocre.”

The idea that A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC is mediocre is, frankly, enough for me to consider challenging you to a duel.

Luckily, you’ll be able to make those distinctions yourself: someone already created a Spotify playlist with the songs mentioned.
Ask and you shall receive. I made a Spotify playlist that includes a ton of these suggestions (putting a Sondheim song in there is a non-starter with me–one must draw the line somewhere). Anyway, enjoy!https://t.co/vjSrn7OYML

It turns out that show tunes are more divisive than we thought.
